| HER WORLD is an experimental documentary portraying Lillian Brown, an early 20th century Jewish immigrant. | ||||||
| By marrying a distant relative twenty years her senior, Lillian Brown forged her way out of poverty in her native Hungary. Arriving at the threshold of the Great Depression in Morgantown, West Virginia, she learns that her new husband is involved in criminal activities there. | ||||||
| After her husband’s death Lillian and her daughter moved to Los Angeles. It was the Golden Era of Hollywood and Lillian supported herself as a high-end dressmaker. Being a beautiful woman herself, she was enthralled by Hollywood’s allure and sought to associate herself with movie stars . | ||||||
| The narrative unfolds as family members tell Lillian’s story from their own vantage points, each discussing events from a slightly different perspective. Photographs mixed with home movies and movie clips from the 1940‘s and 1950‘s highlight the seduction the movie world held over her . What emerges is an essay about a woman who was infatuated with glamour and lived in the twilight zone between reality and illusion. | ||||||
